Quarterdeck FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about your Quarterdeck Booking.

1. What are our options for food?

  • The Quarterdeck has an appetizer menu you may order from at any time during your function. Please see the attached menu image on the right.
  • We do not offer full menu food service due to the lack of sit down tables and chairs.
  • You may bring in your own snacks or food, as long as it doesn't require our staff to serve it. All cutlery, plates and napkins must be provided by you if you choose to serve your own food. Clean up of outside foodstuff is your responsibility after your party.
  • We offer a variety of trays for your function. You must order them at least 4 days in advance so our kitchen can order in what you require. The selection and pricing is as follows:
    • FRUIT TRAYS FOR:
      20ppl - $35, 40ppl - $70, 50ppl - $90, 70ppl - $120
    • VEGGIE TRAYS FOR:
      20ppl - $20, 40ppl - $40, 50ppl - $50, 70ppl - $70
    • CHEESE AND CRACKER TRAY FOR:
      20ppl - $50, 40ppl - $100, 50ppl - $125, 70ppl - $155

To order trays, include the trays you wish to order in your booking request.

2. Why can't we order off the Rogue's Roost menu?

The Rogue's Roost menu is not available in the Quarterdeck because of seating and table layout. The Quarterdeck is not meant for sit down meals.

You cannot order from the Rogue's Roost menu and pick it up from the bar to take upstairs, they are separate establishments.

3. Are Rogue's Roost and the Quarterdeck separate?

Yes, Rogue's Roost Brew Pub and the Quarterdeck are separate establishments. Drinks, food and tabs are not transferable between the two bars due to licensing issues.

4. What are our options for music?

  • The Quarterdeck has it's own IPod complete with about 4 hours of music. Music ranges from 70's, 80's and 90's to some top 40's.
  • You may bring in your own music, whether on an MP3 player or and IPod. Your own music will be played during your function.
  • We ask that you create a play list, so the stereo does not have to be accessed by you during the party.
  • Live music is not permitted in the Quarterdeck due to licensing. Bands, DJ's and acoustic music may not play at your party.

5. What types of alcohol do you serve in the Quarterdeck?

  • The Quarterdeck is complete with local beer (Olands, Schooner, Keiths, Keith's Light, Bud Light), typical well shot liquor, some shooter liqueurs, house wines, and two Rogue's Ales on tap. We also carry Corona, Heineken, Stella Artois, Smirnoff Ice coolers and Jagermeister.
  • Martinis are not available in the Quarterdeck.
  • If you have a special request for a certain type or brand of liquor, mention it in your booking form and we will do our best to accommodate you.
  • Some Rogue's Ale you may wish for your party might not be available due to brewing schedules. We will fulfill these requests when possible.

If you wish to have pre-paid drink tickets for your function, simply mention it in your booking form. We can certainly accommodate this.

6. Can under aged people attend our booking?

Sorry, persons under the age of 19 are not allowed in The Quarterdeck due to liquor licensing.

7. Where are the washrooms located?

The washrooms for the Quarterdeck are located on the main level of the building. They are the same washrooms as those for Tom's Little Havana and Rogue's Roost Brew Pub.

8. Is there smoking on the Quarterdeck Patio?

Yes, there is a de-licensed area at the far end of the Quarterdeck patio that is allotted for smoking.

9. Can we decorate for our party?

Yes! If you wish to decorate for your party, you can request it in your booking form. The bartender will come in early so you can do so before your party. There are a few things to consider, though:

  • Please do not use staples to put your decorations up.
  • No glitter of any kind - confetti, decoration, etc.

If you can't decorate before you party on the day of, you can drop off your decorations and we will do it for you. This request is an additional $10 fee.

10. Is our booking fee refundable after our party?

No, your booking fee is a fee to use the room for your party and is NOT refundable upon completion of your party. It is not a deposit.

11. Is outside liquor allowed in the Quarterdeck?

No, outside liquor is illegal in the Quarterdeck, just the same as in any bar in Halifax. If presence of outside liquor is discovered, during or after your party, your credit card will be charged $50 in fines.

12. Is there a TV and/or DVD player in the Quarterdeck?

Yes, there is a TV with regular cable in the Quarterdeck. A DVD player is available upon request, but due to some disc formatting, we cannot guarantee the DVD player will play burned discs in any/all formats.

13. Is the Quarterdeck set up for live music?

No, unfortunately due to licensing issues, the Quarterdeck is not set up nor allowed to host live music of any kind. DJs, acoustic, bands, etc. are not allowed to play at your party.

14. Is there a debit machine in the Quarterdeck?

Yes, the Quarterdeck is fully equipped with a debit and credit card machine. The Quarterdeck also accepts cash.

There is also a BMO bank machine located in the main building foyer, downstairs from the Quarterdeck.

15. Is the bartender's tip included in the rental fee?

No, your bartender's gratuities are not included in the booking fee. While gratuities are not charged, we ask that you tip your bartender as if you were at a regular bar/club.

16. What if I need to cancel our party?

All party cancellations will receive 100% of their booking fees IF your party is cancelled before 24 hours of your booked time.

Booking fees are non-refundable if you do not cancel within this policy timeframe of 24 hours.

17. When is our party considered cancelled?

Your party is considered cancelled if one or more of your party guests do not show up within 30 minutes of the start time of your booking.

If you are running late and require longer than 30 minutes, you may call the Quarterdeck at 499-5744 to let the bartender know you are running late. This will ensure your party is kept booked for the night.

If the bartender has a phone number you can be reached at, they will attempt to call you before finalizing the cancellation of your party after the 30 minutes policy time has lapsed.

18. Can we request a certain Rogue's Ale to be on tap?

Yes, you can request that a certain Rogue's Ale is on tap for your party. Requests will be carried out WHEN POSSIBLE.

Brewing schedules and availability is based on our Brew master. Request your ale in the booking form and we will try our best!

19. Is the Quarterdeck patio licensed for serving alcohol as well?

Yes, our patio is fully licensed to consume alcohol on, except for the de-licensed end that is allotted for smoking only.
